Removing Foreclosures

A foreclosure can stay on your credit report for 7 years and you should do everything in your power to avoid foreclosure.  A foreclosure is devastating to your credit scores and if you have a foreclosure on your record, you should look into credit repair as soon as possible. Just like any other negative account, a foreclosure can be deleted from your credit report, as long as it is handled in the proper way.

If you are someone who wants to remove a foreclosure from your credit report, you will first want to learn about your rights in the Fair Credit Reporting Act and all other laws having to do with credit reporting and foreclosure. The more you understand your rights, the easier it will be to remove your foreclosure from your credit report.

Though it is quite time consuming to learn about the laws and your rights, it is very important to commit yourself to being familiar with civil and consumer rights. If you don’t have the time to commit to learning about these laws, then it would be to your benefit to seek legal help and/or consult with a credit repair company.

Credit repair counselors are specialists in removing foreclosures and other negative items from credit reports. Their focus is on correction of inaccuracies and false information on your report. If your credit report contains any inaccurate information or it has negative items that can’t be verified by the lender, the items must be corrected and/or removed immediately from your report.
